A Family Thing,

On the Lake We Love

The name Sekondi's comes from two brothers — Camden, 22, and Owen, 20 — who grew up making the trip from Utah to Lake Anna every chance they got. After enough summers on this lake, we knew we wanted to be a part of it, not just visit it. What started as a shave ice shop has since grown into a full convenience store, pulling up right to the dock so you never have to leave the water for the things you need.

The name itself comes from a Japanese Snow Monkey. In Japan, Snow Monkeys roam free, and while watching one in particular, we learned his name was Sekondi. We took our love for shaved ice and the lake, and tied it to this monkey we couldn't stop thinking about. That's Sekondi's.
